Best Places to Put Twitter Share Button and
Retweet Button
Tweet share buttons are
used to share a piece of text (your current blog) with your friends and
followers. A retweet sends a blog that
you just received to your followers, a bit like passing something on.
Bloggers use Twitter to promote text and blogs of
their own, and with the addition of buttons you can make sure that text is
shared and re-shared a lot easier.
If you re-tweet a blog piece then the traffic and
credit goes to the person who made it originally. On the other hand when people retweet your
stuff then you get the credit, so it is a little bit of give and take. You get two button types to retweet with.
This is how you add the buttons to your blog:
Goto Layout > Edit Html > Expand Widgets > Press Ctrl+F >Search For
Below Codes
<p><data:post.body/></p>
Add the code you see below:
<p><data:post.body/>
<div style='float:right; margin-left:10px;'>
<script type="text/javascript">
tweetmeme_url = '<data:post.url/>';
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js"> </script>
</div>
</p>
This adds a retweet button onto the right hand side of your blogger post, at
the very beginning.
If you do not find the code inside a </p>
then add the codes above in after the bit that says <data:post.body/> Doing this will then
add the retweet button at the very end of you blog post.
To use the smaller compact
version of the button use the code below:
<script type="text/javascript">
tweetmeme_style = "compact";
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js"></script>
To place your twitter share or retweet button on the left then use the code
below:
<div style="float:left;padding:4px;">
<script
type="text/javascript">
tweetmeme_url =
'<data:post.url/>';
tweetmeme_source =
'your_twitter_user_name';
</script>
<script
type="text/javascript"
src="http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js"></script>
</div>
To place your twitter share
or retweet button on the right then use the code below:
<div
style="float:right;padding:4px;">
<script
type="text/javascript">
tweetmeme_url =
'<data:post.url/>';
tweetmeme_source =
'your_twitter_user_name';
</script>
<script
type="text/javascript"
src="http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js"></script>
</div>
This is the code for
compact left:
<div
style="float:left;padding:4px;">
<script
type="text/javascript">
tweetmeme_style =
'compact';
tweetmeme_url =
'<data:post.url/>';
tweetmeme_source =
'your_twitter_user_name';
</script>
<script
type="text/javascript"
src="http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js"></script>
</div>
This is the code for
compact right:
<div
style="float:right;padding:4px;">
<script
type="text/javascript">
tweetmeme_style =
'compact';
tweetmeme_url =
'<data:post.url/>';
tweetmeme_source =
'your_twitter_user_name';
</script>
<script
type="text/javascript" src="http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js"></script>
</div>
Using this code you will
be able to place retweets and tweet shares onto your web page or blog. If you have a smattering of web design
language, you can also use this code to put other symbols and pictures in as
links.
The positioning of the
buttons should always reflect the mood of the tweet. If it is shocking news
near the beginning then put the button near the beginning. If the biggest punch comes near the end then
put the button at the bottom.
Ideally you want people
to re-tweet, so put the button where it will be visible on the page when the
idea to re-tweet hits them.
